Boy Scouts of America

Last week Jonah got a flyer at school about joining Boy Scouts. Oh man, does he want to join! He hadn't even gotten off the bus yet when he showed me the flyer and said, "Mom, I'm gonna join Boy Scouts!" Um, what? Every day this week he's been begging me to sign him up. So yesterday there was an open house type thing at a park for people to come check out what kinds of things they do in B.S.A. (had to add the A...BS just doesn't seem right).

So now Jonah thinks that BSA is all about super fun things...

Shooting bow and arrows
Sharpening knives (came up with that one himself)
Building teepees
Camping
Woodworking

Pinewood Derby (Jax's favorite!)
Boat Racing (the kids had to blow the sail to make it go)
Soda Bottle Water Rockets
& Air (PVC) Rockets
Man, who wouldn't want to join? Even Jax on the way home kept saying "Thathy [Jaxy] Boyz Thouts." So we're still undecided (ok, I am). I've got to commit to go to a BSA meeting with JK once a week, dragging Jax with me (not fun), plus when he turns 8 we'd have to switch troops so he can be in the troop from church. So stay tuned...we may have a little boy scout in our midst soon.

Josh calls his "guy time" with Jake Boy Scouts. They look up animal tracks on the internet and go ID them outside, build stuff, etc. He has no idea that there is a *real* Boy Scouts out there...there aren't any troops here until you get the church one at 8 anyway, so we don't have to make that decision. Good luck with that one :) I think Jonah has been waiting for something like Boy Scouts to come along for his entire life :)

Be strong, Julie! Kids want to do EVERYTHING! Your sanity is worth saying no sometimes, and he will survive. :)
