Today we headed south a little ways to the La Purisima Mission in Lompoc (if you are non-Californian and you don't know what the California missions are, go here). It was lots of fun.
First we went to the visitors center, which was basically a little museum all about the mission, the Chumash indians, the animals, and the history of the area. Jaxon loved the rabbit fur. He kept cuddling up to it and saying, "oh, its like a blanky!"
Jonah's favorite part was these huts.

Jaxon called this a mouse cave.
Hey look, its a pizza oven! Ok, its not, but it sure looks like one.
Jax kept leaning against this doorway, so I told him to stay still so I could take a picture. He said "Wait Mama" and put on his hood and posed. It was so cute!
Jonah wanted to get in on the action too.
The boys really liked all the animals they had (well except the turkeys - Jonah didn't like them at all). There were donkeys, horses, sheep, turkeys, and a cow with some major long horns!
After our little mission adventure, we headed to Los Alamos for some delicious dinner at Full of Life Flatbread (aka American Flatbread). We've been wanting to go there for a long time now, but they're only open Friday though Sunday in the evenings, so they're VERY busy. We were lucky to have gotten there early enough to be one of the first tables seated, so our wait wasn't long. The food was great and the boys (big boy David included) had a lot of fun watching them put the flatbread (pizzas) in the big stove. Great food and even greater company!

The 5th grade mission assignment will be a piece a cake for you kids! Maybe YOU won't have to do it like a lot of parents do:)
Fun, fun! Mitch just did his 4th grade mission project on La Purisima. All of those pics looked so familiar. The boys are so cute and their poses. :)
