Happy Easter!

We've had a great, fun-filled Easter weekend!  Saturday morning we started the weekend off by going to the Annual Egg Hunt in town.  We made it a little late, so there wasn't much going on, but Jaxon did get to drive the fire truck and meet the Easter Bunny!

Next we headed up to SLO to Kids Day in the Mission Plaza.  The kids had so much fun!   There were tons of booths, games, crafts for the kid to do.  The boys favorites were definitely the 2 gymnastics centers!  Jaxon went crazy with the characters...there was a bug, a tiger (supposedly Tigger), a bear (supposedly Winnie the Pooh), and a fire dog.  The bug was his favorite...he would go up and hug it, walk away, hug it again...this went on for like 10 minutes.  Oh, and the kids were excited to pet a stuffed owl, bobcat, otter, and hawk, but even more exciting was the live Ball Python!

Jax was beat and fell asleep eating his clam chowder on the way home in the car.  My sister DeDe and her boyfriend Todd were up from San Diego for the weekend, so they, along with my other sister Carina, came over to dye Easter eggs.  It was great fun, resulting in amazing works of art!

Easter morning the kids woke up happy and excited to see if the Easter Bunny came to visit.  They were ecstatic to find he ate the carrot we left him and in its place were 2 full baskets.  Luckily the Easter Bunny doesn't bring much candy, but lots of fun goodies to play with...bubbles, balls, bouncing bunnies & chicks, and bunny ears.  The highlight for Jonah was the Hulk action figure he got and for Jax the bunny Fisher Price kid and bubble gun.  Naturally Jaxy was as much excited and entertained with the grass in the basket as with the goodies!

We had a nice time at church...Jonah was very excited to get Easter goodies from Primary and Jax and I had a pleasant walk through the halls the 3rd hour.  A couple hours after church we headed over to my parents' house for Easter dinner and it was wonderful!  I spent like 5 hours last night cooking lots of food!

Of course Easter wouldn't be quite right without deviled and jello eggs!  I felt a little like the Pioneer Woman's apprentice, seeing as I made 3 of her recipes.  I made her  homemade Mac & Cheese, Twice Baked Potatoes, and Bacon-Wrapped Jalapenos.  I also brought some Artichoke Parmesan Dip and Rice Krispy Nests.  My mom cooked a ham and a roast and made rolls.  The food was so good and my tummy is now SO full...still!

After dinner DeDe thought it would be a good idea to try a little experiment.  Of course David and the boys thought it was a great idea.  They tried to do the trick where you put paper lit on fire in a bottle, let it smoke, then put an egg on top of the bottle and watch the egg suck in.  Ya, it didn't work.  Nice try, though guys!

Later we had a Egg Hunt.  David and I hid the eggs (David's so clever!).  Jaxon didn't quite get it, so David had to walk around with him and give him hints...it was really funny.  Jonah did great and was really good about leaving the real easy ones for Jaxon.   When all was said and done, the boys ended up with more candy and even some money!  They both seemed so much more excited about the money, so I think next year we might just fill the eggs with pennies instead of candy...sounds good to me!

After a little rest for our weary tummies, we finally had dessert. The desserts were just as good and like the meal...there was WAY too much! There were chocolate covered strawerries, angel food cake with fresh strawberries and homemade whip cream (David and my favorite!), candy, and rice krispy nests...mmm!

We had a great day!  Thank you family for celebrating with us!  We are so grateful for the reason for this holiday...for our Savior's atoning sacrifice!

Happy Easter everyone!
