Fun in the Sun

DJ (David's brother), Rachel, Jake, and Dylan came to visit us this weekend.  We're having SO much fun!

Day 1:

We spent the afternoon at the lake (we're lucky enough to only live a couple miles away) on the boat.  DJ taught the boys how to fish (he's an expert fisherman!  No joke - you should see his gear! Although Rachel is pretty darn good herself!).

Jonah reeled in the first fish of the day...a Sunfish (right, DJ?).  He was a little resistant at first...

but by the next fish he was ready to feel it, hold it, even kiss it! :)

Since we were on a fish high, we went out for sushi that night.  All the boys LOVED the big fish tank.  It really was a cool display!  I actually didn't mind sitting there checkin it out with the boys...it was cool!

Here's the gang.  We were lucky enough to have had the company of David's cousin Jimmy (who we haven't seen forever and miss tons!), Aunt Janiece, and Uncle Burt.  We're glad you guys made it!

Here's Jax eating his first piece of raw fish...nasty, I know!  (This was his daddy's doing...I won't eat it myself let alone feed it to my baby!)  He loved it and scarfed a huge piece down.  Daddy was proud (Mommy was just grossed out)!

Day 2:

We spent most of the day at the lake again.  We didn't have much luck at first, but we did enjoy the beautiful (but kinda hot) weather.  DJ conducted his random act of kindness for the year...we passed a boat of tipsy college students who's boat broke down, but no one would stop.  Not only did he stop to help, but he towed them all the way back to the marina (we were unfortunately at the furthest end of the lake).  Way to go Deej!

Our friend Tyler not only caught the first fish of the day, but the biggest, too.  It was a 2 pounder bass.  Congrats Tyler! (He also caught the biggest catch of the day yesterday...a not quite as big Sunfish)

Of course Jonah had to hold it too (see what I mean about the cool gear?  DJ's even got a scale to weigh the fish - cool!)

Here's the bass that Jonah reeled in.

Along the way we stopped at a little dock so the men could fish and the kids could get out and stretch their legs a bit.  Jonah did a little more then stretch his legs...he soaked them!  Good thing he wore his boots!

Jax & Jake had such a blast throwing rocks into the lake (I'm sure scaring any and all fish that might have been there).  They were so cute, though.  Jax would throw a rock and laugh, then Jake would throw a rock and laugh, then they'd both look at each other and laugh loud...so funny!

Jax & Jake & Dylan takin' a drink break.

Isn't Jaxon just so cute?  He looks way too old in this picture, though!  What happened to my baby?  He loved the boat at first, then got real annoyed that he had to wear his stinkin' life vest (why can't they make them more cozy for babies?).  When we'd go fast, he'd snuggle into me while Jonah would sit in the front and soak up the wind (I'm sure REAL good on his bad ears, which by the way he seems to be all better thanks to good old drugs!).

We've had 2 great days with our family!  We've only got one more day (or at least a couple hours more) with DJ & Rachel.  We're SO glad you guys came to visit us (and not just because you brought your boat!).  We love you guys and miss you tons!

You are so awesome Julie! We had such a great time and LOVE coming down! Pretty soon, if not already, I am sure you guys will be tired of us coming all the time! We are so excited about the pictures too. You did such an incredible job, specially with the little bit of lighting that we had left! I couldn't be happier. Love you guys!

It looks like you guys had a great time! I'm impressed that you caught some fish...we try...but rarely get anything!

I think its kinda creepy to have an aquarium at a sushi place...like having a live cow at a steakhouse...
