The Elks Rodeo

This week I had the privilege of being a parent driver and chaperone for Jonah's class field trip to the rodeo!  My cowboy wannabe was SO excited!  Of course when we got there it was all hot and he was miserable for the first 1/2, but by the 2nd half he was in heaven.  All the kids dressed up in their cowboy/cowgirl clothes and there were Air Force guys handing out little flags to all the kids.  We got to watch a man jump out of an airplane with an American Flag.  We also saw a boy from his school cattle rope.  There were little kids mutton busting (sheep riding), big guys on bucking broncos, and some honkin' huge bulls.

The highlight of the day by far, though, was watching a little girl in Jonah's class who barrel races.  She was stinkin' awesome!  She by far was better than any of the kids in her devision...she one first place by a LONG shot...but she also smoked pretty much all of the kids in the junior rodeo period!  It was really cool to watch her in action (by the way, she's one of only like 3 girls in Jonah's class that he thinks is cool...and its not because she's a cowgirl either) and now Jonah says he wants to be a barrel racer.
